Candy's Children
Among all of Aunt Candy's children, only
one has made it to America to see where their mother lived. She is Ruth Peyton
Yandila. And her relationship with her mother's homeland is strong and growing.
Ruth and her husband, Cephas, in the photo at the left, now live
in Botswana. She is the head nurse at a nursery in a private hospital in Gorborone, the
capital of Botswana. Cephas is a professor of science at Botswana University, also in
Gorborone.
Cephas was educated, in part, at the University of Wisconsin at
Green Bay. One of their sons, Timothy, graduated from the same university recently with a
degree in graphic arts. Another son, Simon, graduated from the University of Seattle with
a degree in electrical engineering. H works in research and development for Kodak in
Rochester, N.Y.
Their only daughter, Deborah, was born while Ruth and Cephas were
in America. She recently graduated from high school and, as an American citizen, she plans
to come to America soon for higher education. Steven, still in high school, hopes to
come to America for further education.
